Overview of mounting types: wall and floor mounting
For your stainless steel handrails, I have relied for years on a reliable German supplier who provides the high-quality base material.
There are two common mounting options:
wall mounting or Step assembly (also called floor mounting).
For step installation, a floor anchor is used – a pipe of the same material thickness as the handrail, extending upwards. A straight bracket is then attached to this anchor. For wall mounting, this bracket is angled. Both methods ensure a stable hold for the handrail.
Stainless steel joints and brackets
Modern stainless steel joints make bending the handrail a breeze. They not only offer an optimal grip, but also adapt perfectly to your spatial conditions – precise, stable and visually appealing.

Handrails are typically installed at a height of approximately 90 cm to ensure ergonomic use. This is particularly important on outdoor stairs, where safety and stability are paramount.
For permanent fastening, several holes are used for handrails in outdoor areas; stainless steel threaded rods are anchored in these holes with a specially designed adhesive, which usually requires 24-48 hours to cure.
For this reason, two on-site appointments are often necessary for installation – the first to drill the holes and glue in the threaded rods. The second step then involves the final assembly of the handrails.
This method ensures that the handrail holds reliably – even under heavy use or changing weather conditions.

Which DIN standard applies to handrails?
Handrails and railings must be according to DIN 18065 (Building stairs) are to be installed. The most important requirements at a glance:

Wie wird ein Handlauf befestigt?
Handläufe werden in der Regel nicht mit Schrauben und Dübel befestigt. Eine Ausnahmen bildet der Innenbereich bei sehr festem Mauerwerk.
Grundsätzlich kommt bei der Befestigung eine sogenannte chemische Verankerung zum Einsatz. Dabei wird ein Zweikomponenten-Gemisch aus Harz und Quarzsand in das Bohrloch eingebracht.
Durch eine chemische Reaktion härtet das Gemisch aus und schafft eine nahezu untrennbare Verbindung zwischen Mauerwerk und Ankerstange.
